Buffalo
State's proposed Community Maritime Center will bring an historic watercraft museum
and community boat-building center to the Buffalo waterfront. It will serve to
showcase the college's growing historic boat collection and extend the college's
boat-building programs into the community.
Construction started on Phase I (Teaching Pavilion), expected to be completed
in October 2005
Phase I includes an outdoor teaching pavilion, which would allow for area teachers
to utilize site for educational programs and will temporarily house classes that
will later be held in the community boat building center
Phase I will also allow for boat launching.
The completed Maritime Center will serve as a permanent home for historic boats
and a design laboratory for watercrafts.
The Maritime Center will have: community events, out-reach programs, educational
programs & exhibitions.
The Great Lakes Research Center will result in a state-of-the-art research facilities.
Developing land so that they can open it up and give it back to the community.
